Font is a set of glyphs of unified design, belonging to one typeface. Usually representing the letters of an alphabet and its supplementary characters.

The usage terms vary per site, per font. All are free, but some might – for example – not be available for commercial projects.

1001 Free Fonts:  Preview each one with a bit of text you want to use. Most are for personal use only, but some are in the public domain.

Font Space: Lots to download and use. Some are limited to non-commercial works.

Font Editors

BirdFont: Free version only allows you to create if you put the design under SIL license. This encourages sharing.

FontForge: Open source software.

Glyphr: Design your own online, then download and use. Pleasant interface.

Type Light: Freeware.
